Note: Profile, bio, are used interchangeably, they refer to your character, the form you fill out.
Disclaimer: We, the staff of Fantasy's Final Saviors, reserve the right to reject any profile which we feel does not meet a minimum standard of quality. Profiles which we feel are not of minimum quality will be dismissed without any corrections and a new profile can be put forward for consideration if the player has any of the remaining three (3) chances. Furthermore, profiles that show blatant disregard of rules, or arguing with the staff reviewer will result in the dismissal of the profile also without corrections in mind. For examples of applications that are outright rejections, see the application by Rin Hawk, Black Hawk Extreme, and Inyuasha in the applications forum. They should give you an idea of just what we consider to be Lacking.
1) Profile General Rules (These rules were mostly added individually, thus the subcategories)
1a) Short Profiles are a no. In fields such as Background/History, Personality, etc, it is preferably to have more than two sentences. More is better. Fields such as name, age, etc, it is accetable to have one or two word responses.
1b) No cheap Orphan/Amnesiacs profiles. If you want to do this type make it good. Mastery in any area by just joining the RPG and stating it in your history is a no.
1c) No character may begin with a "special attack", that is a trance, or over drive, a limit break, whatever you want to call it. We reserve the right to decide what falls into this category.
1d) No more characters may have a weakness of women, in eather direction of ogling them too much or shying away. This can still be a character trait but it will no longer be acceptable weakness.
Definition of a "Special Attack": Any attack which gives the character greater power than they already possess: be it a transformation, or an attack which deals far more damage than the character is capable of dealing under normal circumstance.
"Special Attacks"/trances/limit breaks/overdrives, which I will refer to henceforth as Over Attacks (no big deal, it's just a term I am comfortable with), Red and I had planned on allowing them later in the game, after some role playing had occurred, so that they would be the focus of a quest or substantial character development.
We do, however, reserve the right to decide who and when Over Attacks can be acquired. We might examine your posts, come to a hiatus that you are responsible enough to handle having an Over Attack and not abuse it, and we will contact you, and tell you may devise an Over Attack, and ask you to send it to us for approval. Should the attack get approval, you will then be given the go ahead to begin a quest or other event to acquire the attack. We would expect the events leading up to acquiring the Over Attack to be proportional to the Attack's power. Simply, the more powerful the attack, the longer it takes to get it.
2) This is a fantasy (Note: magic, knights, damsels, that kind of stuff, you get the idea...*sigh* e-mail or IM a staff member if you don't...) RPG, and we would prefer only ORIGINAL characters (see rule 2a). Along those lines, there are no space ships, plasma rifles, jet packs, etc. Please do not apply with a gun toting far future cyborg with a 20ft. robot. No guns.
2a) By an original character, we mean no character which is a blatant copy of any other existing characters. We understand that after playing the hottest new game, you think it would be cool to have a character like that. I know, because I made my Samurai after watching a lot of Samurai movies on television, and playing Throne of Darkness on the computer. I used the image of the Samurai from Thousand Arms, Soushi Mahoroba, which is an entirely acceptable practice. However, if I were to create a character named Steiner, who is a knight, and use phrases such as: "Description: Just like Steiner from FF9", "Weapon: Just like Steiner from FF9", is unacceptable.
There are three reasons for this; 1) Some persons may not have played the game, or not have played enough to know what you are talking about, 2) By creating a carbon copy, we cannot judge your creativity, which is a part of the accepting process, and some fields require more than: "is like [character name] from [game name]", 3) I don't want to role play with ten Gokus, six Clouds, a few dozen Sephiroths, three Dante's, or whatever character from whichever hip new game for PS2.
3) Warrior Conditions
Read onward if you wish to apply with the Warrior type of profile. As a warrior your weapon skill will start off at a level higher than any mage could obtain with a weapon.
As a warrior you will not be able to apply magic to your character. Meaning, your warrior will have no magic at all. With some warrior fighting styles there are magic-like properties such as a paladin's faith makes magic like abilities. We refer to such abilities as inner-abilities. The line between magic and inner abilities is very thin and thus it will be up to the staffs discretion which side of that line a skill falls.
4) Mages and Magic
Read onward if you wish to play a Mage type character. Much like with races, we dont want starting characters to be all-powerful people, so there is a restriction on the level of magic that they may possess.
New players can have any form of magic they wish, but they cannot have a great skill level in it. A New player may have only a few spells memorized, meaning that they are well known by the user and relatively easy to cast, but they will be subject to minimal damage/length/area of effect. (For example: magic missiles, light healing spells, etc.)
You may start with a Total of 4 Spells: No more then 2 May be Offensive
4a) The Casting of Magic
Any spell past the minutest of spells requires some form of chant, hand gesture, up to for the bigger spell, lengthy drawn out rituals to point. All attack forms of magic require a gesture or chant. No spells however are to just happen on a whim.
4b) The Schools of Magic
Black - Any Magics that would be classified as "evil", whether the power come from an evil deity (opposite of white magic), or draw upon such powers that would be considered evil (Death, hate, angeretc.).
White - The magic of good. This school would include any spell of healing, or of an anti-evil nature.
Elemental: Any magic that is a direct use of the four elements: earth, air, fire and water (example, balls of fire, lighting bolts, etc.).
Enchanting - The ability to impose magical qualities onto an item from any other school This is the only school that should it be your major one, you are allowed for more advancement in others.
Wizardry - Any form of Psychological magics. Spells that alter the state and nature of an object person or place, such as spells to confuse, disorient, cause illusion, animate or inanimate objects, telekinesis.
If you use spells that would fall under these categories, as most do in one way or another, then you would have the skill to cast it.
For example: You list Resurrection as a spell, then its assumed that your character must have gone through years upon years of white magic trainings.
But if a character is twenty-two years of age, is at the highest levels of white magic, and then claims that he can also rain down meteors is unacceptable, as your character logically cannot have learned how to rain down meteors while studying white magic intense enough to learn high levels.
It is possible to have multiple categories or magic under your belt, you can have as many as you like, but skill in them would suffer, having a magic user who can cast fire balls, heal people, and summon spirits, would result in a character who has, basic to slight intermediacy in those categories.
This how ever doesnt apply to characters that are old enough to have actually had the time to excel greatly in multiple forms of magic.
4c) On Creating Your Own Magics
The above schools above magic are a base in which the RPG has; they are not mandated to be the only forms of magic to be used. Should you wish to create your own form of magic you may do so. But you must describe it as in-depth as is possible. Casting styles, source of magic (this may not be clear, but, for example elemental magic is from the elements, White is classically from a deity form, etc..).
All forms of mind control are expressly forbidden to players. Specifically, you may not use a spell, or a spell-like power to assume control of anothers' thoughts, or impose thoughts on others. This includes entering into anothers' mind to read their emotions.
4d) Learning new spells
To learn new spells, you must have a at least one spell to , link in to the other one. For example, if you have a Spell that Heals another by touch, and a Spell to make Wind, then you can develop that in to a healing Breeze of sorts.
Another example would be, if you have a spell, for example a fireball, and your character happens on to a book about more advanced fire magic.
If you want to learn something , then you need contact the Magic Administrator and He or She will approve deem it fit to be learned. They will also assign the amount of time it takes to Develop, and then be come of moderate proficiency in the spell
4e) Magical Weapons and Items
Just because an item is deemed magical does not mean that its powers are ready to be used by any individual. In order to use these, a character must have the appropriate knowledge in the magical art that the item is enchanted with. The exception to this, would be magical artifacts that are "always on, a warrior who possesses a talisman of strength would need no knowledge of how to use said talisman in order to be under its effect. But should he posses a wand of lightning; he would need at least minimal to basic magic knowledge to get an effect out of using it.
No items can give you direct skill For example: no "pendants of magic mastery".
5 ) Shapeshifting or the act of taking on animal or magical beasts cannot be allowed due to it being inherently an act of multi-classing where a wizard would be able to fight freely in a animal form or a warrior would have the magical inclination to change shape to something else. This does not limit inner abilities for warriors that would enhance your current class for example a warrior having an advanced form with bat wings this would be an inner ability these advanced forms would be related to the fighter personally and be generally small changes not full blown shapechanges. And if a class change happened this advanced form would be lost as mages are not allowed advanced forms in favor of balancing the classes.
5a) No powers or abilities that directly or indirectly allow a character to see into the future. Tarot card reading, crystal ball viewing, palm reading or other such things are allowable, as they are fallable and only come true by chance. Only group leaders may use this ability on an NPC and only then if it's being used as a plot/story device.
6a) You may have one character initially. After an arbitrary amount of time decided by me (Red) and my second in command (Sithrazer/Sith), you may be allowed to put forth a bio for another character for standard approval. (note: Here is where some bias on our part comes in If I (Red) know you from another RPG and know you are capable of handling more characters, you will be allowed to have them. Up to three characters are allowed. Any more would be spreading yourself too thin.
6b) A player must have established themselves as capable, responsible, and rule-abiding players before they are allowed to put forward a character whose species is on the list of those species that are high power. Meaning that no newbie to FFS is allowed to use these races listed below as their first character. Since FFS is also a place for creativity this list will most likely grow with time as new high power races are discovered.
The list: angels (up to and including any Divine being), vampires, demons (up to and including any being from hell), dragons, astral beings, Lunarians, nymphs, Nereids, liches (up to and including any form of intelligent, spell-casting undead), immortals (of any sort), elemental (i.e. any creature composed solely of one element, e.g. fire), half-elemental/angel/vampire/demon/dragon.
So ends the profile rules. Good luck.
